Who is your favorite character in Boruto? For me, it’s Sarada Uchiha because her bravery and strength inspire me. And after watching the 4th series finale of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations on July 18, I was wondering- why does Sarada wear glasses?

To answer this question, I tried to find the source from both Manga and Anime adaptations. And guess what! I found two different answers- either, because of a childhood illness or after activating the Sharingan.

Who Is Sarada?

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations was all about the descendants of our favorite superheroes in Naruto.

In this series, just like Boruto is the son of Naruto Uzumaki, Sarada is the daughter of Sakura Haruno and Sasuke Uchiha. Since Sakura vowed to be with Sasuke to battle every possible threat, she accompanied him everywhere. Therefore, Sarada was born in the hideouts of Orochimaru.

Why Does Sarada Wear Glasses?

In both Naruto and the sequel Boruto, the Uchiha clan and Hyuga clan were exceptional for their good eyesight. This often allowed them to use the power of Sharingan. But none of Sarada’s parents wore glasses for it, so why did she have to wear one?

Well, the anime and manga version of the answer to this question is quite different. In anime, the reason was said to be a childhood illness. As Sarada became extremely ill when she was a little kid, she lost her eyesight because of it. That’s why she had to wear glasses.

On the contrary, the manga contents revealed that Sarada had to awaken her Sharingan at a very young age. As she was looking for information about Kaguya Otsutsuki, she activated her Sharingan without knowing the consequences. After that, she had a severe fever and she lost her eyes.

But in both cases, her eyesight was super powerful while the Sharingan was activated. And another point that Karin gave her the glasses was the same in both manga and anime.

However, there can be another reason behind Sarada’s glasses. The creator of all these characters Masashi Kishimoto told in an interview that he wanted to portray Sarada as a strong-hearted personality. But he also wanted her to be a cute-looking young girl full of life. That’s why he felt like giving her glasses and did it. No other reason.

Conclusion:

Well, in my opinion, Sharingan provides the power to see the insight of another person as well as hypnotize him. This power also allows copying the enemy’s technique just by taking a look at it. So, in my opinion, activating the Sharingan power without control could have harmed Sarada’s eye.

Now that you have the answer to the question ‘why does Sarada wear glasses?’- I hope I have satisfied your mind with the answer. Continue reading the blog if you want to know more about Boruto.
