If you love watching One Punch Man, Mob Psycho 100 is a must-watch anime for you. Even though both the series was created by the legendary ONE, they have unique storyline and characters.
I was in love with both of these anime and now I am eagerly waiting for the release of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3. I know you are in the same situation. So, let me tell you what I know so far.
The First Release of Mob Psycho 100:
Studio Bones decided to make an anime adaptation of the manga Mob Psycho 100 back in 2015. The first season was directed by Yuzuru Tachikawa. This season was aired between 12th July 2016 and 1st April 2019. Later on, the 25 episodes of the first season were aired by Netflix as well.
What happened in Mob Psycho 100 Season 1 and 2?
In Mob Psycho 100 season 1, the story started with a psychic middle school boy, Shigeo Kageyama who could actually perform an exorcism at this early age. But the fact is, he could never express his emotions and the development of this was so slow that in the first episode, it was only 27%.
However, like all other superhero franchises, his abilities were invincible and seemingly impossible for any commoner. Mob kept fighting with the evil spirits, as a subordinate of a con-man Reigan Arataka. In front of Mob, Reigan only pretended that he had psychic powers but always dragged Mob (Kageyama) to encounter dangerous spirits.
Mob Psycho 100 Season 2 ended on July 18, 2019. The season mostly covered all the high-value arcs. Obviously, the story by ONE kept everyone hooked up for another season. The anime series ended with the fight between Toichiro Suzuki and Mob.
Toichiro could have been more destructive if Mob wouldn’t redirect the power within his own body to save everyone. Toichiro understood his fault and decided to surrender. Besides Toichiro, Dimple, Reigen Ritsu, Teruki and Saruta made the anime a full package of comedy and action.
Will there be a Mob Psycho 100 Season 3?
In order to make another anime season, adapting Mob Psycho 100 manga could be difficult. That’s because a lot of factors are responsible for it. Among them, some are given below:
Source Material:
The second season covered almost all the arcs of the source material leaving only 65 chapters behind. Now, if ONE illustrates Mob Psycho 100 again and adds some volume, we can hope for Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 to air once again.
Fans reaction:
Well, like all other anime adaptations, Mob Psycho 100 received mixed reactions from the fans and critics. The loyal fan base wants to have another season as the two seasons are not enough to quench their thirst. On the other hand, some of them are happy that the series ended with a clean ending.
However, don’t get too hopeless so soon, because you can expect 1 OVA at the end of this year.
Awards:
Mob Psycho 100 received 62nd Shogakukan Manga Award Shonen category and 31st Harvey Award Best Manga Category. Therefore, I have high hopes that ONE will be inspired by this and start another manga volume to get adapted.
Sales and Profit:
More than 1.2 million copies of the manga were sold till 2016. The sales went up after the release of the anime adaptation. So, there is a good possibility that studio Bones will attempt to take over the anime adaptation again to start the show.
As you can see we still cannot drop the possibility of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3. And some sources also depicted that the director Yuzuru Tachikawa is thinking about the possibilities of another season. Calculating the gap between previous seasons, if that happens, we can watch Season 3 in 2022.

I loved watching Mob Psycho 100 because there was always this tension in the series that what would happen if Mob reaches 100%. The series shows the childhood fantasy of ghosts, spirits, and urban myths. Hence, like the millions of fans, I am also waiting for the Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 to air.
You know that a lot of anime iss on hold because of the pandemic situation like Kakegurui Season 3. So, All we can do now is to wait patiently for the next season.
