Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions belongs to a romantic-comedy genre and is also full of drama. The first season was a massive hit.
In this article, we will mostly talk about the storyline, release date, and other interesting facts of Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 3.
How Many Seasons of Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions:
The fantasy story of this high school romantic-comedy anime TV series premiered in Japan on 4th October 2012. The dynamic plot and remarkable story-telling, even the soundtracks were loved by many people around the world. In 2014, a movie named Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions the Movie: Rikka Takanashi Revision was released.
After the huge success of the anime, movie, and spin-offs, the Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 2 was released in 2014. Lastly, Chunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Movie: Take On Me has been released in 2018.

Genre & Studio:
Kyoto Animation Studio produced a Romance, Comedy, and Drama packed slice-of-life anime.
Plot:
The plot of Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions is kind of simple. Chunibyo is a Japanese term used to mock those teenagers who think they have superpowers and they are on the earth for any secret mission like any anime character. The characters in this anime were delusional about themselves and their surroundings.
The story could be all about this. But what made the plot extraordinary was the character development. With each season, the gang of high school boys and girls were developing themselves as human beings through facing different problems.
Obviously, there was love and romance and heart-throbbing scenes in every season, but the perfect timing of the punch lines balanced the humor with romance.
Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 1 and Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 2 were about Rikka Takanashi and Yuuta Togashi and their bunch of classmates. In the beginning, Yuuta Togashi came to a new school and was struggling to cure himself of the ‘Chunibyo Syndrome’. He was trying to step out of his fantasy world and focus on his study and career.
However, he met Rikka who was suffering from the same condition but worse than him as she never even cared about the real world. She claimed herself as the vessel of ‘Wicked Eye’.
Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 3 Release Date: [Update: month20]
Well, unfortunately, Kyoto Animation has not officially announced any release date for season 3. But the good news is, they didn’t say it was canceled either.
Is Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 3 under production?
Since the last movie of the Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions franchise was released, there are not even any rumors around for the third season. The production studio and the creators haven’t made any declaration yet. And there is no trailer either.
Now, we will try to find out what are the chances of season 3 to air:
Source Material:
For other Japanese anime, source material makes a huge difference. If there is enough material to produce a season, the creators try to put their effort into adapting it. But in this show, the source material theory doesn’t help that much.
The anime was based on the light novel of the same name. Actually, KyoAni took the characters from the LN and created an original anime TV series.
So, even though there is another volume left for the third season, there are fewer chances for season 3 as the source material is not adapted in the previous seasons.
Sales, Profits, and Popularity:
As I mentioned before, the pilot season was received with love by the massive fan base. But season 2 couldn’t make up for it. Only 7000 discs were sold in 2014 and the profit was half of the first season. Therefore, it can be predicted that the production studio will not invest in a loss project again.
The popularity went down as well. According to MyAnimeList the 1st season ranked #965 whereas the 2nd season ranked #1426.
No cliffhangers:
The last movie: Take On Me was what the fans called the adequate and clean ending for this anime. The Chuu2 fans were hoping that Yuuta and Rikka could finally get their moment and could progress in their relationship. The ending satisfied them all.
Social Media Popularity:
On Instagram 23.4k posts, photos and videos went viral from the debut of this anime.
Thousands of likes and comments flooded the Facebook fan pages with photos and clips of the show.
Take On Me was viewed by 84k people on YouTube.
Rating:
IMDb rated7.4 out of 10, Crunchyroll rated 4.8 out of 5, and 86% of Google users liked this TV Show.

Conclusion:
By cutting all the loose ends and presenting the anime with the ending it deserves, the production studio literally drew the finish line. But you know in the anime world, one can find a thousand ways to turn up with another plot twist and be back on track. We can only hope that happens again.
So, let’s keep waiting for Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions Season 3 to air. In the meantime, try watching the previous seasons or you can keep the One Punch Man Season 3 and Trese in your anime list.
