Kiranraj J’s feature debut movie starring Rakshit Shetty as the main character is a warm, heartfelt journey between a man and his best friend. Bollywood has been crying out for a movie like this for a very long time but it was worth the wait.
This movie delivered. 777 Charlie is a fun-packed thrill ride that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster, but instead of keeping a bag nearby to throw up in, you’ll be needing a box of tissues to wipe away the tears.
A new type of movie for South Asians, 777 Charlie follows the story of a down-on-his-luck man whose chance encounter with a dog changes the course of his life. For all you dog lovers out there, you’re in for a treat.
The overriding theme of this movie hinges on whether a seemingly innocuous dog can change the life of a man who’s been beaten up by life more times than he can count. I wasn’t joking when this guy is down on his luck!
Dharma, played by Rakshit Shetty, works in a factory living a mundane life after he lost his family many years ago. A daily routine of smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and just scraping by at his job was beginning to take its toll. But then one day in struts the real star of this movie, Charlie. Dharma initially ignores Charlie as a stray; he doesn’t think much of it.
But then the dog keeps coming back day after day gradually breaking down Dharma’s resistance to the point where Dharma unofficially adopts the dog. Being a fan of classic comedy actor Charlie Chaplin, Dharma names the dog, you guessed it, Charlie.
As the relationship between the pair blossoms, Dharma notices Charlie’s behavior starts to change. She just seems quieter. Concerned for Charlie’s well-being, Dharma takes his new best friend to the vet where she’s diagnosed with cancer.
A story of love and loss, this movie encapsulates the very best of what it means to be human and our unique relationship with our favorite four-legged friends.
777 Charlie Ending Explained!
At the end of the movie, Charlie succumbs to the disease that had been plaguing her but she didn’t go without transforming Dharma’s life.
The introduction of Charlie into Dharma’s life was so profound that he changed his life for the better. Instead of being angry and bitter toward the world, Charlie opened Dharma’s heart and filled him, and the world around him, with love.
That’s the impact Charlie left on Dharma, and when you really think about it, what more could you ask for?
